"Just pondering about the things that are happening around and about myself and I got inspired by this snapshot of the wonderful formation flying team that was performing during the RiverFire Festival 2007. 'Leadership', I believe this can be quite a daunting word for most of us (or perhaps just myself) to swallow at times during our lives, causing us to even take a step back, look around perilously at the person beside you with thoughts of 'Why Me?' in mind, and think twice before choosing to step forward. I almost for certain that all of us would have at least been once in such a situation, and felt that way about it."

"John C. Maxwell, an American author, speaker and 'leadership expert' has quoted this statement in his writings, "The first step to Leadership is Servanthood." Some may wonder, 'What is servanthood?' It may be described as 'to be a person in the service of another'. 28"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28 (NLT) Jesus Christ, our Saviour King, who is seated on the right side of the throne of our Father and LORD God, is called the Son of Man in the Bible. He has come to earth not willing to be served by anyone, but to be the servant of everyone."

Examples of Jesus leading in action:
1) Ability and Determination to teach the disciples - Jesus taught and discipled all of His twelve disciples that originate from different walks of life, with different strengths and weaknesses. From a fisherman to a tax collector as well as others with various backgrounds. He was able to fellowship with all of them and to understand and accept them despite of all their iniquities. As well as to bond them together with unity.
2"These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; 3Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him." Matthew 10:2-4 (NIV)

2) Love and Compassionate Heart for His people - Jesus' heart was so filled with compassion and love to reach out to those in need of His help and healing. As well as to teach and guide those who are like lost sheep and in need of help and directions in their lives.
14"When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick." Matthew 14:14 (NIV)
32"Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way." Matthew 15:32 (NIV)
34"When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things." Mark 6:34 (NIV)

3) Boldness and Confidence in His Actions - Jesus was not afraid of the magnitudes of oppressors and people everywhere who were trying to harm or plot to kill Him. Yet He still executed the 'right things' to get the 'things right'. In Matthew 21:12, Jesus portrayed this character traits when He went into the Temple to drive out those who were fouling the temple courts with unscrupulous commercial interests.
12"Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. 13"He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!” Matthew 21:12-13 (NLT)

With such great Humility, Love, Passion and Compassion, Boldness, Confidence and along with the other numerous characteristic in the Bible of how great a Leader He was and still is, Jesus has truly exhibited to be one of Great 'Servant' Leadership quality. Let us all pray and desire to be more Christ-like in our ways and rejoice for what He has done for all of us. Let us all continue to fulfil the Great Commission that He has set for us, and to achieve the Vision that He give to all of us.

"Let us come to the Lord and be filled with the Living Waters that He has promised us in the Book of John Chapter 7, 37b"Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! 38Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of Living Water will flow from his heart.'" John 7:37b-38 (NLT) Simple example, imagine that you are running a 12km marathon, you are gasping for air, in need of water and filled with thoughts of giving up. But someone hands you a nice cup of chilly iced water and you drink it. Ahhhh!~ You feel really good and refreshed, and feel like you can carry on for another 12km, don't you? But, if someone that has been running the never-ending race of Life, comes to a point of giving up or breaking down, seeking desperately for help and comfort, and manages to take a drink of that Living Water, I tell you, that person will be so much more refreshed then the cup of iced water and never be thirsty again. Jesus has said this 14"But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” John 4:14 (NIV)

"But just what is this Living Water that Jesus is talking about? Reading on from John 7:38 (read above), 39"By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive." John 7:39 (NIV) That means, the Living Water that Jesus was talking about is the Holy Spirit, and it is a gift from God for everyone to take. All you have to do is just ask from Him and believe in Him. 15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognise him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you." John 14:15-17 (NLT). King James Version translates 'Advocate' to 'Comforter', in turn meaning that the Holy Spirit also gives comfort, when you are under stress, in desperation, and need someone to pour out your heart on, the Holy Spirit will be right there, right in your heart, to give you the comfort that you seek. So anyone out there who need a 24/7 companion and listening ear... Ask God to fill us with the Living Water, which is the Holy Spirit, and trust in the Comforter, the Counselor, the Helper, the Intercessor, the Advocate and the Strengthener.(taken from the Amplified Bible)"

"Really really really 'Thank God!' for the things that has happened since my last posting. Just want to share a short testimony about God's Covering and Protection over my life and it just happened yesterday. My friends and I were heading to the city to have lunch before the start of our classes. While walking along the way we busy chatting and catching up on things because we seldom have chance to meet up with each other, so we stopped at the pedestrian's crossing at the junction of Alice Street and George Street to wait for our turn to cross the road. As the 'green man' came on, while busy yapping away, we crossed the junction. Suddenly just halfway across the road, someone from behind shouted 'Watch Out!', and we immediately froze in our steps. Wondering what had just happened, we turned our heads towards the stationary cars and 'phooof!', a silver car just zoomed past us, barely inches away from hitting us. (Just add a little drama, I could even feel the displaced wind from the car on my face...) One more step and that was it. Not only did the car not stop after missing the people at the first pedestrian crossing, it didn't stop at the second pedestrian's crossing as well, which was filled with students crossing the road. Really Thank God for not letting something so disastrous from happening."

"One more testimony that I would like to share is about something that happened to me just few days ago, something that would sound quite weird to some people. While I was asleep in bed, I had this nightmare, something which I don't remember. I believe it was something really scary to cause me to be suddenly woken up by it. Not thinking too much about it, I though of just flipping over my side to try continue sleeping. But then... ... ... I realised that I was unable to move my body at all, my head, mouth, hands, legs, not even my toes. Yes, I was awake, and it felt as if something was pressing and holding down against my body, but my eyes was able to look around. Suddenly I remembered about my Aunt's testimony some years ago, where she had this similar experience as well that time while she was asleep. Some strong force restrained her hands, legs, head and pressed against her chest. and she was helpless. All she could do was to kept thinking of "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus..." and after that the strong force departed from her. So, in my mind, I kept repeatedly thinking of "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus... ... ..." After a while(I seriously do not know how long/short was it) the strong force left and I was able to move my body. Thank God!"

"This encounter of mine is very real and not something 'bull' and certainly not in my dream. It is really beyond my own abilities as I can still remember the helplessness of myself. Only through Faith in Jesus and His help that I was able to overcome that attack from that strong force. Dear Brother and Sisters, it is really true that in this season of harvest, the Spiritual warfare of the demonic forces is very prevalent, and we must be ready and prepared for anything that may come before us. "10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Ephesians 6:10-12 (NIV). Let us all be fully equipped with the armour and weapon that God has provided for us as stated in v13-17. "13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:13-17 (NIV). Let us all pray for one another in this time and season and stay unified as a whole, a lifegroup, and one body as the Church. "18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Ephesians 6:18 (NLT).

"Looking at this photo reminds me of what my mum has always said about me. '3分钟热度', which mean a 3 minute passion for any of my hobbies and interests. It really causes me to ponder about things like, this photography hobby of mine, or the things that I am doing? Would this passion for photography of mine would last? Or would it burn out like the Betta fighting fish breeding craze that I had in poly? Trying to get the perfect masked copper-gold plakat, that splendid opaque full moon, or that exotic king-cross red crowntail? Or would it be just flickering like that rollerblading and golfing hobby I had just picked before I left Singapore?"

"I guess I shall know sooner or later, but one thing for sure I will know is that my Passion for Jesus will not Flicker about, Dim down, or even worst, Burn-Out! But it would burn Strongly for God, to seek Him and to serve in His Kingdom. It is not just following religious ceremonies or practices that pleases God, but only with a sincere heart that yearns for Him will. Give us daily a fresh and new portion of oil in our oil lamps that we may continue to feed on your Word and Wisdom, and live a live that is burning with passion for You. As well as to be able to shine forth Your goodness from our souls to all that's around us. Let us be like that City on the Hill in Matthew 5:14, that no one can cover up its light and it's forever shining forth its glory to those around it. Amen."

"Ad·dic·tion – the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma. Based from Dictionary.com"

"Just pondering about the word 'addiction', and searched the Internet to find some interesting articles about addiction. Yes, addiction comes in many forms and types. I shall discuss about some common types that may be not so 'sensitive' on this blog."

There are 2 forms of addiction, mainly:
1) Physical Dependency
Dependency on an addictive substance, e.g. Nicotine, Alcohol, Drugs, etc. to initially induce pleasure, but extended use is used to relieve the anxiety caused by the absence of the addictive element, causing it to become compulsively used.

2) Psychological Dependency
Dependency of the mind, that causes psychological withdrawal symptoms, e.g. cravings, anorexia, insomnia, irritability. Psychological dependence does not have to be limited only to substances; even activities and behavioral patterns can be considered addictions, if they are harmful, e.g. Gambling, Internet, Sex, Pornography, Eating, Self-harm, Vandalism, Work.

"Addiction can possibly be considered to be both psychologically and physically dependent at the same time."

Example of a Common Addiction:
Addiction to Computer Games – Having the uncontrollable need to play games for long period of time, even till wee hours of the night.

Some Symptoms and Problems of Game Addition (Reference from http://en.wikipedia.org/)

Persistent thoughts of the activity or performance of the activity. (Preoccupation)
Use of activity to escape problems or relieve bad mood. (Preoccupation)
Need for increased time spent on the activity to achieve satisfaction or diminished reward for the same amount of time spent on the activity. (Tolerance)
Inability to control, stop or diminish the behavior. (Loss of control)
Restlessness or irritability when prevented from partaking in the activity. (Withdrawal)
Lying to friends or family about extent of involvement with activity. (Continuance despite adverse consequences)
Committing illegal acts to sustain activity. (Continuance despite adverse consequences)
Jeopardising or losing relationships, career or educational opportunities to pursue activity. (Continuance despite adverse consequences)
Relying on others to finance activity. (Continuance despite adverse consequences)

"Its is clearly described that those who are under the influence of an addiction would undoubtedly deny their addiction or have anything to do with it and even argue that there is nothing wrong about it. But, hey! That's far from the truth! The Bible tells us to keep ourselves away from being enslaved by anything. 12"‘I am allowed to do anything.’ But I reply, ‘Not everything is good for you.’ And even though ‘I am allowed to do anything,’ I must not become a slave to anything.” 1 Corinthians 6:12 (NIV) Yes! It does says you can do anything, but not (I emphasise again -> NOT) things that are bad for you! For these includes smoking, drinking, pornography, gambling and those that I have mentioned above, and zillions of other kinds things out there. If you are being enslaved by all this various forms of addictions, they are your Master and you are their Slaves! Reading on in the book of Corinthians, the Bible tells us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, the place where the Holy Spirit dwells in. 19"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV) Therefore, we should treat our bodies with honor and respect and treat them good! For God paid a high price for us. And more importantly, imagine a scenario, would you choose to live in a pig-sty place with junk and gunk around everywhere, or would you choose to live in a speck and span, nice and clean place, free from rubbish and junk. That's the same for the Holy Spirit, as He would choose to reside in a Pure and Clean heart, that is uncluttered with sin and evil, of course only with a heart that desires of Him."

20"In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use.21If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
22Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts." 2 Timothy 2:20-22 (NLT)

"As mentioned above, keep yourself pure and holy, and rest assure that you will be used mightily in the Body of Christ, by God's wonderful purpose and Kingdom. Pray today that we can all live in purity and turn away from the addictions of sin, and most importantly, with the filling of the Holy Spirit in all our hearts."

"Went for UQ's Campus Christian Movement (CCM) today, quite interesting to see so many of our CCM people dispatched around the great courts and areas nearby trying net the pool of freshmen that are just swimming by them. Of cause we are not just trying to con or bluff them into joining the club or participating in the activities but more of serving our ultimate purpose of reaching out to the unsaved ones."

"Its so sad that I *may* have to join another caregroup for their meetings. Its so sad just to think about it, after all the time that we have spent together. The outings, the gatherings, the teachings, the sharings. Just when we have only began to know each other so much better. In addition to the pain, my recent commitment to WAM may be compromised as well. It's just like a 'train' that is fully loaded up and all set to leave, I have already bought my ticket and found myself a seat on that train. But suddenly, I am force to get off the 'train', remove all my luggage and proceed back to the ticket counter to purchase another ticket for the next train. Even though the next train may travel on the same railway tracks towards the same destinations as the first train. But, I know that I may never get back on that very same train again. I ask myself why must something like that happen? Why did God allow such thing to happen? Is it a test for me by pushing me out of my comfort zone? or to test my commitment level? or to test if I will continue to stay strong and focused in Him when the boat is rocked? or is it just to tell me that my calling's in another area? Dear God, please do not misunderstand me, I am not grumbling at you or complaining of any sort. But just asking myself about the series of events that has just happened. Whatever happens, I WILL still continue to walk in Faith and Trust in your magnificent plan for my life. Amen."

"Sloozy doozy day out here in Brisbane, just spend my day slacking since the morning until 3+pm before decided going out for a jog. My destination? To Valley of coz... :) my favorite place, the Cash Converters. No, they do not only keep people's old junks alright? But a variety of interesting items can be found, which people sell just to make a quick buck of it. Plus, it comes at 'somewhat' a faction of the price brand new. Moreover, which supermarket or megamarts can sell items ranging from old cameras and lenses to chunky coffee makers, from shiny car rims to different range of music gears, from all kinds of kitchenware to usable sporting goods, from valuable jewellery to broken motorcycle boots, from sturdy surf boards to old lawn-mowers? I guess you get my point. After fumbling about some really trashy guitars(I really mean seriously) at Cash Converters, its off to Billy Hydes Guitar Shop I go. Matons are quite nice, bright sounding and easy on my fingers. But the damage dealt to my wallet can be quite a substantial amount, really hope to get a cheap one of EBay. Saw a nice and really sweet sounding Aria going for $400+ after 1/2 price discount from $899 at a shop further down the street. But too bad its a fat Jumbo, and its not a semi-acoustic(no pickups). I believe its the same model as what Sunita has, I wonder how much she paid for it."

"The boy's mother looked at the little boy with a wide smile on her face and stepped forward and embraced her child. "My dear, haven't you thought about the times you didn't wash your dishes? or the times you didn't make your bed? or when Daddy had to pack up your toys after you and Ginny made a mess of the whole place? How many dimes do you owe us now?" and she added. "How about the 9months of carrying you when you were just a baby? or when Daddy and Mummy had to bath you and change your nappies? or when we had to feed you when you were unable to do so? or where did you get all your toys under your bed from?" Silence filled the room as they gazed into each other's eyes.

"Here's an interesting picture of my Dad feeding seagulls at Moreton Island when my family was here for a short holiday. "Didn't take much pictures during Caregroup Getaway @ Bribie Island, not sure why also? Hmmm... perhaps I was quite busy during that time, or perhaps I felt quite weird to take pictures of other people, not sure if it is okie for them for me to be snapping pictures of the them or perhaps its just weird'o me having such thoughts. But if you haven't noticed, my pictures don't really have people in them, but I missed some good opportunities to take some nice portraits when the 'recee team car' stopped by a playground for a walk during some freetime before the main party arrived. Lol...! But still I enjoyed myself during that time in Bribie Island, great learning experience and wonderful chance for the caregroup to get together to fellowship and know each other better during that time. I really felt more bonded together with them, even thou I guess that I can improve in myself by opening and speaking up more to them... It would be great if there would be more of such chances to be able to interact with each other and to know one another in a more deeper level. Quite wasted for some of them who were not around, but its alright, untill next time...!"

"One activity that discussed about 'words' that best represented the caregroup's Goals and Objectives and six of the main ones chosen were 'Vision', 'Leadership', 'Passion', 'Purpose', 'Love' and 'Courage'. However, personally I felt that 'Friendship' shouldn't be forsaken as it quite important in a caregroup level as well as in the church level. Yes, you may argue that 'Friendship' is part of 'Love', however, I feel that its too generic? Its easy to say that 'we love that brother/sister, and.. therefore...' But how far to an extend will you be willing to extend your hands to the person to build up this relationship? How far will you be willing to go all out to make this person feel welcomed and at home in the Church and the Kingdom of God...?"

"Happy Mother's Day to all mothers! jus wanna share this story with my readers... There was this particular little boy, and as he was walking by this toy shop, he saw something that caught his eyes and he wanted very much to buy it for himself. Then he took out his little coin pouch and counted how much money he had, all he had was just 50cents inside it and it wasn't enough money to buy even the cheapest toy in that shop. So, reluctantly, he had no choice, but to walk home in despair. Along the way, he pondered and though about how was he going to get the money to buy that toy that he desired so much. As he reached home and stepped into the house, he hears the sound of the dishes coming from the kitchen as his mother washed the plates. And then, a little bulb 'pops' on top of his head and a wide smile filled his face. Cheekly, he steps into the kitchen and greets his mum, "Hi mum! What are you doing?" His mother replied, "Nothing much, just washing the dishes to prepare for dinner later my dear." Then he said, "Erm, mum ... ... ..." I will continue part 2 tml, now chatting with my mother :)

"Went shopping at Westend Market today, first time over there to do Grocery shopping. Quite a big market ground and many stuff to see, but the prices are not that cheap thou. Not too sure, $3.50 for a Wong Bok, is that expensive...? I thought I've seen some that were selling at $2++ at Brisbane Markets and Sunny Banks, hmm.. can't confirm that. Oh well... I bought some dried mangoes that were quite expensive, but I think they are super nice...~! Really Yummy~! I just love those kind of mangoes... But they are super expensive @ $59/kg. Gosh, when I think of it now, I can buy abalone with that kinda price. :("

Here's one interesting picture I got at the Buddha Birthday event at Southbanks, NO... I didn't go there see that event, I wanted to see the main part, which was the fireworks display. Feel so louya that I didn't get good pictures of the fireworks, even thou I snapped like 200++ shots continous for 15mins... As I was too close to the explosion site, most of the shots were half here, half there... bah, next time ba... position at a better location, or get a wide-angled lens? huh? My camera is not a DSLR, not so pro yet...

'Chanced' upon this beautiful, hmm.. erm... beauty? don't know what word to use to describe it. I just happened to peer out of my window, managed to get a few snaps before the day turned to night. As I would say, "The perfect picture at that perfect moment..." The colours are just as what my eyes saw, no colour swaps or light balancing.

"Hmm... Quite a quiet and boring day today. Went grocery shopping at Coles Express to stock up for next week. I got myself some Cheerios, biscuits, milk, bread, fruits and other stuffs, went over to the counter to make payment, which I noticed that the cashier charged me $4.90/kg for some bananas. As I remembered that I picked the $3.90/kg ones(which happens to be the cheapest type) I asked her to check again, but she insisted that the 4.90/kg ones are their cheapest. So I just paid up and lugged all the bags to the fruits corner again, just to confirm, and there it was, printed on the Big yellow price tag, a Big, Fat $3.90/kg for Golden Finger bananas! So, I went back to the lady and claimed back my cash. LOL! Only 50cents refunded, but its still money right? And this incident hasn't happened to me the first time, I was also overcharged at Woolies quite sometime back. I paid $4.90/kg for my Favourite Red Delicious Apples (yummy!) when it was suppose to cost only $2.90/kg that day. Worst thing was that I bought quite alot of the apples as it was 'dirt' cheap for that kinda price, and I didn't check the receipt when I left, So I got overcharged by almost $2 plus. Can't they have normal weighing stations like in 'NTUC' so we can weigh and check our items before heading to pay for them? Instead of having the cashiers to weigh them when you pay at the counter. It helps in easing the queues during the lunch time rush hour too..."

As requested by the floor, here's a portrait of something... not of humans, but of animals... Isn't he majestic? That's called a Water Dragon Lizard, and its found in abundance in the Australia Zoo, running about everywhere. I wanted to catch one that day, to bring back as a pet, but I realized they were too ferocious! Crazy little 'nippers'! (Its not spelled as that part of ur body, its the meaning that they bite!) Ouch!

Another time wasting incident that happened today, someone actually asked me for my help to solve his computer problem, and he was suppose to come over to my place this morning. So I waited at home for the whole morning since I woke up (8am) till 12pm. Then I give him a call, which he claimed that he tried to call me in the morning and whatever -> 'bull'... and the last statement was he has already solved the problem. Happy Easter Sunday!

Just a short introduction to this... I have started this Blog, or rather this "PhotoBlog" to feature some of the photos that I have taken and that found particularly special or just nicer then the others, since I got my very own "self-bought" camera(proud to declare that) ...

I have realized that I have currently more then 2.2 GB of photographs in my hard disk now(it just keeps getting bigger), and they were taken with my Canon Powershot A710IS, that's amounting to more then 1000++ photographs in Large Size and Fine Quality... and well, with no idea how to share them all to everybody, I shall choose the best of the rest!

I shall be experimenting and learning the different effects that can be "played" with on my camera and photoshop, and publish them on this "PhotoBlog" site... so in the meantime, stay tuned to upcoming photos that I will be posting on http://www.jus4you2see.blogspot.com
